Nanna – A Poem by Shahar Golan

Posted on January 27, 2010 by Shahar Golan · Leave a comment

Show me the soap, Nanna
The one you said you kept,
The one inscribed R.I.F. for
Reichs-Juden-Fett.

You do not know where it is
You say with clear frustration,
A bar of soap that proves, mind you,
Our people’s extermination.

You never had a bar of soap,
You liar! Liar! Liar!
You never had a bar of soap,
You Holocaust denier!

I Hope My Daughter Grows Up to Be Just Like Shakira – A Poem by Shahar Golan

Posted on November 7, 2009 by Shahar Golan · 1 comment

I hope my daughter
Grows up to be
Just like Shakira,
A strong confident woman
That must be caged
Before she can dance
Inside a glittery vagina.

We Liberated Europe – A Poem by Shahar Golan

When Americans say
‘We liberated Europe’
I shudder and think:
My people
Were liberated
Through chimneys.

Political As Soon As You Open Your Mouth

We say Kassam – we don’t say rocket,
Mukataa – instead of compound,
Shahid – not Martyr,
Tahadiya or Hudna – and not ceasefire -

Why do we so easily adopt Arabic terms when speaking Hebrew?
